Scope and Content: Collection encompasses majority of contingent enrolled for service with Second Regiment of Cavalry, Seventh, Eleventh & Twelfth Regiments of Infantry, Thirteenth Volunteers (organization not completed), RI Hospital Guards & men obtained as substitutes. Partial enlistments for Batteries comprising First Regiment of Light Artillery, First & Third Regiments of Cavalry, Second & Fourth Regiments of Infantry & Third, Fifth & Fourteenth Regiments of Heavy Artillery as well as men serving with regular army units of the First Army Corps, Fifteenth US Infantry, US Signal Corps & Veteran Reserve Corps. Includes age, residence, nativity, occupation, height, eye & hair color, complexion & signature or mark of applicant, date, place & name of person enrolled & term of service. May contain guardian or parent authorization or reference to prior enlistment or military service.
