Scope and Content: Volume 14: Acts & Laws of His Majesty's Colony of Rhode Island in America, 1730-1731 Printed listing of the laws of the colony of RI form 1663 to 1731. Also includes a copy of the charter granted before Charles the Second tothe colony of RI and Providence Plantations in America, index to the laws of the colony, and the text of laws and acts passed by the legislature. (C#00473) Volume 15: Journals of the General Assembly, 1772-1797 Volume 16: Journals for the General Assembly, 1744-1748 Journals of the General Assembly include date and place of meetings, names of persons present (often includes their title and the town they represent), action taken by members of the General Assembly. Subjects covered include: the admitting of new freemen to the towns, isuing of funds form the General Treasury to pay for expenses incurred for the government, other actions necessary for conductin9 the business of the government, and to draft new legislation. Earlier journals are handwritten, later journals are printed. Of note: lists of freemen and lists of officers of militia units.(C#00474) Volume 17: Journal of the House of Representatives, 1760-1797 An act to carry out the execution of a treaty of amity (peace), commerce and navigation between England and the U.S. (July 4, 1797) items covered include: navigation rights, trade rights and bounties to be paid between the two countries. Included are: advice to be punctual to worship, deligent in attending, properspirit at meetings, ca~e for raising th~ next generation, journal ofthe House of Representatives of Massachusetts Bay Session held at Harvard College March 15, 1770. Minutes of the session includes: petitions presented and their disposition, bills introduced, messages from Lt. Governor T. Hutchinson to the General Assembly, and from General Assembly to Lt. Printed in 1726 by order of the legislature.
